Husband & wife team, Rebecca Cross and Max MacKenzie are pleased to announce the opening of their new gallery in Canal Square in Georgetown:
cross mackenzie ceramic arts will exhibit both sculptural and functional artwork from some of the most accomplished and challenging artists working in the medium of clay today. Featuring thematic group shows, we will showcase the significant talents of local ceramic artists as well as notable potters and sculptors from around the country.
In addition to the monthly group shows, cross mackenzie ceramic arts will offer a collection of ceramic works for sale year round and will work with designers and architects to provide custom tile work and unique art objects for residences, corporate offices, hotels & restaurants.
Please join us for our inaugural show, "CLAY" including works by: Susan Beiner, Jerry Bennett, Margaret Boozer, Laurel Stevens Lukaszewski, Shin-Yu Wang, & Lars Westby. These 6 artists exhibit fresh and exciting approaches to the art of clay and demonstrate the breadth of the medium.

About Us
Rebecca Cross, painter, set & costume designer (Bresee Danskompani, Oslo, Norway & Ballet Rox, Boston, MA) and ceramic artist has work included in the Smithsonian's Renwick Gallery and the American Embassy in Bogota, along with hundreds of private and corporate collections. She studied painting, ceramics and sculpture at Bennington College, St Martin's School of Art, London and received her M.A. from The Royal College of Art, London. She then assisted sculptor Sir Anthony Caro for 2 years. Shown widely throughout the UK and the US she has received grants from the DC Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, The American Scandinavian Foundation and is a MacDowell Fellow. www.rebeccacross.com/rcross
Max MacKenzie, architectural photographer, artist and author of 2 books of his panoramic landscape photographs, "Abandonings" and "American Ruins", has provided his architectural photography services to architects and interior designers in the DC area for 25 years. His fine art photographs are represented by galleries in 8 states and included in numerous private, corporate and government collections such as the Library of Congress and Embassies in Nigeria, Russia, and Peru. He received his B.A. from Bennington College and is the recipient of grants from The Graham Foundation for the Advancement of the Arts, The DC Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. His upcoming book of aerial abstract photographs,"Markings" will be published in fall '06. www.maxwellmackenzie.com
